Walt Whitman Quotes

Resist much, obey little. We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. So medicine, law, business, engineering... these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love... these are what we stay alive for. Peace is always beautiful. I am large, I contain multitudes. Battles are lost in the same spirit in which they are won. Give me the splendid, silent sun with all his beams full-dazzling. If you want me again look for me under your boot-soles. And as to me, I know nothing else but miracles. I do not ask the wounded person how he feels, I myself become the wounded person.
